A bit tatty in need of some love!Few scuffsSingle 15″ speaker in reflex cab.Ooops Tolex a bit sad on one side..Fane speaker not original but should sound pretty good! 8 Ohm 200 Watts so the amp will not blow itFane Studio 15BWeek 51 1985 (Amp it self is 81)Neat and clean rear panelThese caps still work but will get replaced for reliability reasonsPat put this board together but this old cap is about to burst!Interesting thermal cut out device looking like a light bulb!A few cable ties left long.. guess Pat may have been getting tired?Interesting way of marking off the assembly process I guessTransistor inverter…. with an issueOne electrolytic was shorted meaning only one tube was getting a signal! Replaced then sound improved a great deal!Underside of the case, really nice rubber runner feetCab all cleaned up ready for the chassis!Nice electrical insulation on the inside of the cab. Not just tin foil but a nice mesh!Tube diagram actually not quiter correct as it shows an inverter tube which this amp does not haveThere is enough un-damaged grill material from the speaker cab to recover the front of Amp75 Watt Vintage style speaker will be great for guitar as well as bass! When installed she sounded loud and proud!New speaker for the cab more in keeping with the original speaker (and made in the USA)New HT supply caps ready to go inAll in and smaller than the originals, more foam used in the cover to support themNew low voltage supply capsNew Low voltage supply capsrear of inverter board. Neat and easy to work on (well engineered)New caps on the inverter board!Front panel clean upAll tested ready to go back togetherChassis ready to go back inAll assembled and looking good!Up and running sounding good but with one mullard and one EH output tube!A pair of matched Electro Harmonix tubes put in… (fI felt that a Mulard and EH mix was not a good idea so went for a true matched set before selling)Issues getting the bias right for the EH EL34 was caused by the red locking glue getting inside the pot.. after cleaning the pot did not work reliably…Now Bias pot added with knob! attached to the heat sink worked a treat!Bias all set with these tubes sounding greatCab how with new Grill cloth (but tolex still requiring repair)Lovely looking head and speaker Music man Sixty Five head and 15″ speaker cab for a service and new cloth for both the grill and head. Also recap. Interesting issue when it first came in it was working.. but not quite up to scratch! Only one of the output tubes was taking current.. traced it down to a shorted out capacitor in the inverter stage.. replaced and now sounding loud and proud. Went through a full electrolytic cap replacement job and also modified the bias control as the pre-set pot had issues. Cleaned up and sounding great for guitar and bass, i enjoyed best with guitar through a 2×12 or 4×12 cab. Also the new 15″ speaker is great with guitar! Selling the head.
Still have this Music Man?
I still have the cab but not the head.
