Interesting Laney amp from between the Klipp and AOR Pro Tube amps. She is an interesting design with a lot of gain. A bax tone stack and separate mid control then an Ultra Linear Power amp using 4xEL34. I will attach the schematic for those interested. She sounds great with real nice preamp distortion and a great loud tight power amp. She needed new output tubes a new power transformer and caps replacing.. Really love this rather rare and interesting full on Rock amp! Not sure why they ended up going back to a Marshall style design.. probably the marketing guys..
- As she came to me..
- Wow dusty or what!
- Great simple styling
- Massive power supply caps with no marking
- 3xHRS tubres and one Mullard..
- Power transformer the previous owner believed is an issue
- Interesting used 5751 tubes in the preamp… as designed for 12AX7 tubes.. these are lower gain around 70 but all tested good. Matybe trying to tame the beast
- Output transformer appeared creased in the windings but works fine..
- One screw I could not get out the threaded end kept on turning…
- Broke in through the mains socket and held the end with a pair of pliers all good but needed a new socket 😉
- Quite well made PCB and when working on her none of the tracks lifted at all.
- All cleaned up a little and ready for the bench
- Caps original but rather heath Robinson paralleled up
- New caps in place
- Screen grid taken up to 1K
- Output transformer is Ultra Linear Load of gain in the preamp for distortion!
- neat wires lined up well with the existing holes
- ready to wire up
- all wired in nearly ready to power up
- Needed to mod the bias circuit a little the 10K adjustment pot was a bit flaky this Multi turn one gave a lot more stable bias supply
- On the bench with some old tubes for a try out
- original seller
- case cleaned up and 6 new corners added where the old ones had broken off. They are standerd vox corners
- New voltage selector was required as the previous one iwas designed for a dual primary type transformer so a Marshall one was purchased
- A couple of new switches as the old ones had dead Neons
- On the bench and sounding sweet! Wow loud and great Preamp disctortion on tap
- Quad of Shuguang EL34s biased up
- Ready to go back in the case!
- Base of the case in good condition with no major tears in the Tolex
- Good to go!
- Top switch no a mini toggle as much more reliable than the old push one installed
- Ready for the back panel
- Bacjk panel in place!
- Looking good.. I like this version with no big Laney logo and the steel grill

I’ve got one I used back in the early 80’s which I haven’t used for over 20 years. It had a great sound, I’m now using a hot rod deluxe. Do you want mine to fix up and sell?
