Interesting Ampeg Reverberocket R 12RA I believe 1963 based on the speaker datecode. She had 7591 output tubes which the circuit diagram on the back panel called for but the wiring was set up for 6V6.. confusing.. one reason she was not working.. Turns out she needed all power supply caps replacing and the power transformer… output tubes.. and the output transformer gave up the ghost during testing.. One of the preamp tubes was also on the way out and crackling all good now. Great sounding reverb and tremolo (bias style trem) Was a pain to work on as the chassis is very cramped. But now a great sounding under-appreciated amplifier, I could not stop playing her!
- Well used Ampeg Reverberocket.. not working
- Ceramic Jensen. Nice but not super efficient
- Oops power cable perished…
- Power supply caps pretty shot
- Schematic on inside of back panel… almost complete
- Tube linup calls for 7591 output tubes.. which were in her
- Mmm cab calls for 6V6…and it turns out she had been rewired for 6V6 at sometime.. but had 7591 fitted.. those would never have worked in her as she was..
- New power cable installed
- New power supply transformer installed, new rectifier 5Y3 and new output tubes!
- She worked for a while then smoke came out the output transformer… new one necessary
- New transformer installed
- Very matt dirty finsh
- Cleaned up a little but pitted.. a good worn look!
- Running in the workshop and back together.. some crackling/sizzling from the first gain stage.. The 6SL7 appeared to be on the way out… when replaced with a new one all good
